Grown Men watching Cartoons
Recently I discovered a wide variety of content on TV network Web sites
like Comedy Central and Cartoon Network’s [Adult Swim]. Comedy Central has
most certainly done a decent job at providing some of the strangest Flash games I have
ever seen. The Reno 911
shooting gallery is addictive and the TV
Funhouse game just leaves you with a strange taste in your mouth.[Adult Swim], on the other hand,
shows us that geeks are truly taking over late night TV. Don’t take my word
for it, just head over to their site and look for yourselves. Text based
games and seriously thriving message boards prove that Internet usage is
alive and well amongst the thousands of late night television viewers. There
is even a message board thread where viewers can post new show ideas for
[AS] to look over and review. Something else that I have found interesting
is how some threads can go “on and on” discussing the deep overtones of
shows like Futurama and the Simpsons. As a matter of fact, I have been
following a heated debate on whether or not Matt Groening (creator of the
Simpsons) should give up on FOX altogether and just move on over to Cartoon
Network. I think I will have to check in from time to time to see how this
thread works out. Could you imagine what Matt Groening could come up with if
there was a complete lack of mainstream network reigns to hold him back?
Personally, I would love to see an animated parody of the TV show “Becker”
with Bender the robot from Futurama as the main character. I think there are
some real possibilities here. Then again, I am a grown man that watches
cartoons. Enough said. :o)Let’s get digital,
