I’m getting ready this weekend to replace one of my windows 2003 domain controllers. This DC is a DNS,DHCP, and WINS server.
Moving DHCP from windows 2000 to 2003 was a royal pain if both machines where already DC’s
Microsoft has much improved this process for 2003 to 2008
Here’s the steps to follow from a MS KB Article

There are quite a few ways to tell. Here are a few I found.
The correct version of the ADPrep.exe tool for Windows Server 2003 R2 is 5.2.3790.2075.
You can verify the operating system support level of the schema by looking at the value of the Schema Version registry subkey on a domain controller. You can find this subkey in the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters
You can also verify the operating system support level of the schema by using the Adsiedit.exe utility or the Ldp.exe utility to view the objectVersion attribute in the properties of the cn=schema,cn=configuration,dc=<domain> partition. The value of the Schema Version registry subkey and the objectVersion attribute are in decimal.
Schema Version ObjectVersion values and corresponding operating system support level
- 13=Microsoft Windows 2000
- 30=Original release version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
- 31=Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2
- 44=Windows 2008

adfind -sc schver. It gets objectVersion code and translates into Win2003 version.

We are digging into the whole VDI options because of some specialty apps one of our business are deploying. We are also consolidating our data centers so offering VDI in the datacenter will make access to the data more secure and quicker.
We’ve had people in to talk about both products. We already using ESX for our server virtualization and have a Citrix presentation server 4.0 farm (with current support)
Citrix seems to have more options and a better overall package, but there’s also a higher price for those options. One thing we were told today is even if we plan on using XP for the virtual desktops we have to purchase a special “virtual license”. I don’t remember the name of the license (it included the the word vista in it) but we where told we’d still need it for XP desktops. That’s an extra cost we were not expecting.
Anyone have experience with Epicor Clientele in a VDI or XenApp environment?

I was reading 6 free remote desktop sharing and screen sharing solutions from Online Tech Tips looking a free new install remote desktop sharing to help support friends and family. I checked on all 6 of the solutions OTT listed and a few from the comments. A few of them claimed to have no install, but when you started digging deeper there was an install, there a ‘plug-in’ or activeX component. These are installs!!! Anything that is added to a system that requires admin access is an install.
I’m talking to you SkyFex and dimdim. TeamViewer does only require the ‘expert’ to have software installed and they do have a portable app that doesn’t require an install its a stand alone exe. But it is only available in the paid version
