This year at work the new office wave 14 suite is going to be a huge project and the key piece of it will be SharePoint 2010. I downloaded the beta and using the following two sites started my install today.

We’ll be running in a three tier architecture starting with a single server in each tier. We’ll be running on Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 (patched to required levels)
I have all three servers up and SQL is all ready. I got SharePoint installed on the web server today and just finished the prerequisites on the application server this afternoon.
This is one of the things I love about my job, last year was a ton of VMware ESX and view as well as AD work. Looks like this year is going to be AD work and SharePoint.
I found these technical diagrams for SharePoint 2010 they are 34 by 44 inch poster size, I printed one out on our B&W plotter. Very nice and I have a lot to learn about application pools, IIS, and SharePoint architecture. I love new technology so its going to be a fun year.

There are quite a few ways to tell. Here are a few I found.
The correct version of the ADPrep.exe tool for Windows Server 2003 R2 is 5.2.3790.2075.
You can verify the operating system support level of the schema by looking at the value of the Schema Version registry subkey on a domain controller. You can find this subkey in the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters
You can also verify the operating system support level of the schema by using the Adsiedit.exe utility or the Ldp.exe utility to view the objectVersion attribute in the properties of the cn=schema,cn=configuration,dc=<domain> partition. The value of the Schema Version registry subkey and the objectVersion attribute are in decimal.
Schema Version ObjectVersion values and corresponding operating system support level
- 13=Microsoft Windows 2000
- 30=Original release version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
- 31=Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2
- 44=Windows 2008

adfind -sc schver. It gets objectVersion code and translates into Win2003 version.

…Now you can.
I don’t know, I’m more excited with the idea of facebook working with OpenID.
Beginning today, Windows Live ID is publicly committing to support the OpenID digital identity framework with the announcement of the public availability of a Community Technology Preview (CTP) of the Windows Live ID OpenID Provider.
You will soon be able to use your Windows Live ID account to sign in to any OpenID Web site!
The Windows Live ID OpenID Provider (OP) enables anyone with a Windows Live ID account to set up an OpenID alias and to use that alias for identification at an increasing number of OpenID 2.0 relying party sites-for example: Plaxo, Pibb, StackOverflow.com and Wikispaces.

Thank you Eric for pointing me to these great starter videos for using PowerShell with vmware. VMGuru put together 5 videos about PowerShell with VMware. They are:
- Establishing Connections to your VMware Infrastructure using the PowerGUI Console
- Navigate your VMware Infrastructure using the PowerGUI Console
- Execute Links and Actions in the PowerGUI Console
- Create and Save Filters using the PowerGUI Console
- Using the PowerGUI Script Editor
Don’t forget to check VMGuru’s Getting Started with PowerShell and PowerGUI in your Virtual Infrastructure its also a great primer for PowerShell.
I’ve played around with powershell a little, but as busy as we are at work right now and the new baby due any day. I haven’t been able to sit down and really understand it yet.

I updated to wordpress 2.7 today. Everything looks like it upgraded without issue. Please take a look around and let me know if you see any issues. I have a nice write up about moving to commvault I hope to post this weekend. Things have been quite around here because my home computer died and things have been crazy busy at work.
