Google now with Twitter

Category : technology

I just noticed today that when I search on Google it includes twitter results also. Checkout this screenshot from when I searched for filehippo

googletwitter

I’ll have to give it some time before I decide if I like how google has integrated twitter. I’ve added the Firefox search provider for Topsy that way I can search twitter directly from my firefox search box. I also use twitters built-in search, tweetmeme, and twazzup. But only Topsy has the Firefox search provider.

If the Google results are relevant and allow me to see more than 2, it could make searching twitter much easier.

Got a question? Got Twitter? Then you got answers.

You can use twitter to ask the collective knowledge of 6 million registered Twitter users.

You can you increase your chance of getting answered by using some keywords or direct/reply to certain twitter accounts. Through services like @chacha,IKnowTweet, TwitQA, Twtpoll, or Ask on Twitter.

ToAnswer was another option, but they seem to have had some server issues are are currently down.

With ChaCha you just follow @chacha and then send your question as a reply. After a few minutes you’ll get your answer.

iknowtweet checks twitter for people asking questions in the format of ‘does anyone know?’ and ‘why does?’ as well as several other methods. You can also use the site to answer other peoples questions if you just like to help out or know all the answers.

I can’t tell how TwitQA picks up the questions on twitter and I’m not a fan of their UI. But they have a large database of questions from twitter just waiting to be answered

Twitpoll allows you to create a poll and post it to twitter, facebook, friendfeed, or any other social network. It not a straight Q&A, but a way to get feed back on a topic or question.

AskonTwitter collects all tweets with the phrase ‘Does Anyone Know‘. It has a great UI

So if you include @chacha and ‘Does anyone know’ in your twitter question you should get picked up by most of these services and have a good chance of getting an answer.

Leave a note and let me know how well these services work for you.

JS-Kit comments

Category : site news

I decided to try JS-Kit for my comments here. They have Google, facebook, and twitter integration. I can also keep using commentluv (I’m still working on getting that to work).
Tonight I’ll also be adding tweetmeme to make it easier to retweet the post.
Please give the new comment system a try and let me know what you think.

My wife teases me about twitter all the time. Now with the IPhone I’m reading/posting more. After these two videos, I think I need to lay off the twitter for a bit.
