Is That a Library in Your Pocket or Are You Just Pleased to See Me?

I must admit that I’m impressed by these new eBook Readers. I love reading but must admit I was a bit sceptical about these new electronic devices. When my wife presented me with one for my birthday I wasn’t exactly whooping for joy. To be honest, I was a bit annoyed because I dislike wasting a lot of money on fancy gadgets that are just novelty items. It turns out that I misjudged the eBook Reader though, and I’m now a huge fan of this device – in fact I’ve stopped buying paperback books altogether and I now only use the reader.

The thing that I love most about the eBook Reader is that you can just take so many books with you wherever you go. One of my favourite pastimes on holidays is reading, and my bags are always weighed down with books I’ve been caught out with excess baggage on a number of occasions because of my insistence of brining so many books with me. The problem is that I just don’t know what I’m going to want to read next and like to have a choice. The great thing about the eBook reader is that I can take a whole library with me wherever I go. In fact you could say that I can fit a whole library into my pocket. I bought a memory card and now I have over a thousand books stored on this small device.

The other magical thing about the eBook Reader is that you don’t even have to spend any money to fill your library. My reader allows me to read any file type and there are millions of free eBooks that can be downloaded. There is a lot of junk out there, but there are also all those classic books that are no longer covered by copyright. Even if I lived to be ten thousand years old there is no way that I could read more than a tiny fraction of what is available. I’ve already got three hundred eBooks on my device and I doubt I’ll get through all them.

I can sometimes feel a bit sceptical about technology, but the eBook Reader is probably the best thing that has been invented in years. It is life changing, and what I really love is the fact that there are so many free books to download – an endless supply.

  1. I think its funny that these things are blowing up. My mom has one and loves it. She said shes never gotten so much reading done. My chef has a kindle and he loves it. I figured these things would go down the tubes when the ipad came out, but actually stocks are up. I would get one, but I too am conscious about blowing money on cool gadgets. thanks for the blog and the review!
