I hate credit cards

I just called today to close a credit card that was forced on me about 2 years ago. My first mistake was waiting 2 years to close this account.
Back when I was in college, I had a Mobil gas card, it could only be used at Mobil gas stations. I used this card to pay for all my gas well I was in MT. Pleasant. It worked on nice, so I could track how much gas I was using. After I graduated I stopped using the card and forgot about it. 2 years ago, I get a letter telling me they are no long continuing the Mobil gas card but they are converting me over to a Mobil MasterCard. I got the card and never did anything with it.
Today I decided to call and cancel it. I only had to wait about 5 minutes to talk to a human, not bad. When I told this person I wanted to close my account, she had to transfer me to a ‘specialist’. I guess this person was a specialist in not listening. He spent 10 minutes trying to get me to keep the card, he kept dropping the interest rate. Even though I explained to him that I pay off our one credit card every month. I have no high interest cards I need to transfer to this MasterCard. Yet he continued to offer better rates and even offered to raise my limit, it was already at $10000. He finally gave up and told me he closed the account and I would get paperwork in 7-10 business days. I’ll be watching the mail for the letter.
